Yesterday tweet from Willow’s twitter read: “So Chris Brown is going to prison now breaking a window at ABC but he didn’t go for hurting Rihanna?” Now you know this didn’t make Mama and Papa Smith very happy!
It was later reported that Willow’s twitter account had been hacked…you know I don’t believe that!
It’s official. First, big brother, Jaden Smith, got his opportunity to star in a big movie remake “Karate Kid.” And now it’s kid sister, Willow Smith’s, turn. The 11-year-old officially signed on to star in the remake of the musical “Annie.”
Overbrook Entertainment partners Will & Jada Pinkett Smith recently partnered with Jay-z to develop major motion picture films and one of the current projects will be the re-make of “Annie” starring Willow. According to a press release from Roc Nation, the partnership began over dinner with Jada, Will, and Jay-z, where they decided to co-invest in the successful product line Carol’s Daughter. They continued this partnership as co-producers of the successful Broadway production Fela!, which earned a total of eleven Tony Award nominations last year. Continue reading
Ok, so I’m starting to believe Kat Stacks about Soulja Boy being on something…The SODMG rapper is claiming that he wrote Willow Smith’s hit single “Whip My Hair.”
Check out his comments on Twitter below:
“Yes it’s true I wrote Willow Smith’s “Whip My Hair”, that’s why she says Hop Up Out The Bed, Turn My Swag On.”
But wait a second Soulja, Janae Rockwell and Ronald “Jukebox” Jackson are the ones credited for the song. *Scratches head* is he serious?
The “Pretty Boy Swag” rapper also went on to tweet about how he needs to sign the next big female artist.
“All I need to do now is sign the next biggest female star to my label… hmmmm… *puts on thinking cap*.”
Mr. Tell Em can you please just focus on increasing your album sales? We’d all appreciate that a lot more.
Willow Smith rang in the New Year in Times Square as a celebrity guest performer on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rocking Eve special on ABC. The moment was particularly special for Willow, because her father Will Smith performed on the same show years ago. Willow also is the youngest person to ever perform on the show.
And Willow even decided to spice up her performance by performing a special remix version of “Whip My Hair.” Watch the performance below:
Looks like child star in the making, Willow Smith, has big dreams. The nine-year-old talks about reaching a higher level of superstardom and becoming a bigger star than Lady Gaga. She even expresses feeling pressure to be successful:
“The hardest part is wanting to hang out with your friends when you have to work,” she says. My friends will come over and you’re recording and you’re like, ‘Pleeease let me go with my friends. I don’t wanna stay here!’ but people are relying on you.”
Now, don’t get me wrong I love that Will and Jada are encouraging their kids to be successful and get involved in the entertainment business. BUT, Willow’s quote makes me wonder is she is truly the driving force behind her developing singing career. Often with child stars they miss out on the opportunities to be a normal child, look at Bow Wow’s comments. There are interviews where Willow talks about really wanting to be a performer and has a burning desire to be a star like her famous parents. I do support Willow and hope that she achieves the celebrity status that she desires, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable childhood experience.
