Keri Hilson and Chris Brown released the video for their new sultry single “One Night Stand,” which was co-written by Kevin McCall and Chris Brown.
This song definitely brings up memories of old collaborations between Aaliyah and Ginuwine in the late 90’s. Keri’s vocals and the dance sequence just scream late 90’s, when R&B was dominating the charts.
I’m digging the video and the song.
R&B songstress Jazmine Sullivan says she is stepping away music. Over the weekend, she tweeted an official announcement to her fans that she would be taking a break from music in an effort to find herself:
I’m making an official announcement that I am taking a break from music. I’m trying to figure out who I am… with out a mic, paper or pen. I promised myself when it wasn’t fun anymore I wouldn’t do it, and here I am. I’m not saying I won’t ever sing again in my life because I don’t believe that. But in this moment…right now….I got some things to figure out.
I love you all and appreciate u soooo much. You have no idea how much you’ve inspired me and fed my ego. But the truth is that I have to believe in me whether you all do or not and that’s what I’m looking for. That belief in myself. Me. I. I love us. Thanks for being here for me and riding with me on this journey. Let us continue.
Not long after Jazmine’s announcement, the tweets were deleted, and nothing has been posted since. Check out her tweets below:
This is how we do it! Montell Jordan’s first hit single remains an R&B classic that still packs dance floors and gets people moving. But apparently Jordan isn’t doing it anymore. Recently the R&B singer posted on Twitter that he will answer his call to Christ as a ‘worship pastor.’ In Jordan’s statement he said:
“I’m sending a personal invitation to the saved, the unsaved and especially the unsure…This has been the best decision I have ever made in my life. It’s just been an amazing career. And it has been great. But it’s a calling that’s probably been with me all my life, since I was a child And I’ve known it. A lot of people in the business know it and have the same calling, but that leap of faith is difficult.”
Looks like Montell has joined the ranks of MC Hammer and Rev Run, artists have sought a higher calling. Good luck to him and his family!
Last night, R. Kelly murdered his performance at the Soul Train Award Show. He opened his set with an acapella rendition of “Bump and Grind” and then performed a medley of songs that included “Your Body Is Calling Me,” “When A Woman’s Fed Up,” “Happy People” and his new song “When A Woman Loves.” Remember when Trey Songz called out R. Kelly, the original R&B baby maker, about falling into the music trend? Well looks like R. Kelly just reminded Trey and everyone why he is one of the greatest male R&B singers of all time.
