Top Sports Brawls in History

29 Nov

Houston wide receiver Andre Johnson and Tennessee cornerback Cortland Finnegan were involved in a fist fight that got both players ejected in the fourth quarter Sunday. Finnegan set it off by pushing up Johnson’s face mask at the line of scrimmage. Johnson ripped off Finnegan’s helmet and landed at least two clean punches to Finnegan’s head and neck. Finnegan tore off Johnson’s helmet before players and referees intervened. The game was stopped for more than five minutes as officials sorted out the chaos. Johnson received a standing ovation as security guards escorted him off the field. Finnegan taunted booing fans as he exited out the opposite tunnel. The two had been pushing and jawing earlier in the game, and Johnson has called Finnegan’s antics annoying in the past. Last season, Johnson was fined $7,500 for taking Finnegan to the ground by the facemask during a scuffle after a play in a 34-31 Texans win. So here is a pic of the fight and some shots of fights you might not remember as we look at some of the most legendary fights in sports history. Continue reading

NFL Star Mike Williams Arrested for DUI

19 Nov

Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie wide receiver Mike Williams was arrested last night for DUI. But according to ProFootballTalk, cops don’t think the football star was actually drunk. The football gossip site stated that Williams was pulled over in Hillsborough County, Florida around 2:48am after cops say he was going  in a 45. He was reportedly weaving all over the place. Cops say the 23-year-old failed a field sobriety test, and took two Breathalyzers once he had been taken to a nearby police station. Cops say he blew a .061 and a .065–both under the legal limit of .08. Williams was released early this morning, and Coach Raheem Morris said Williams will suit up and play in the game Sunday at San Francisco.

The FBI’s investigation into the Cam Newton scandal now involves a man who gave more than $1 million to Auburn University, and was recently arrested during a bribery sting. It is reported that FBI agents investigating the Newton recruiting controversy are also checking into Milton McGregor, a dog track owner who was arrested last month for allegedly bribing Alabama politicians to vote in favor of gambling.  It remains unclear whether McGregor had a direct connection with Newton. But it should be noted that this is not McGregor’s first large donation.  Back in 2008, he donated $1 million for the construction of the new stadium at Auburn.

Pacquiao Sued Over Music for $10 Million

17 Nov

Manny Pacquiao just got smacked with a $10 million lawsuit–but not for beating an ex-girlfriend or body-guard (Floyd Mayweather Jr.)– instead for allegedly cheating a company that hired him to record music. RBM Group International filed a lawsuit today against the boxer in a Los Angeles County Superior Court. The suit alleges that the pound-for-pound champ signed a contract in 2009 where he promised to record 12 songs but never did. According to TMZ, in the court documents the RBM Group claims they gave Pacquiao a $40,000 check in October, 2009, which he deposited in return for the first two songs. But apparently, Manny has refused to record the music. RBM claims they are out-of-pocket $200,000 and lost potential profits in the amount of $10 million.
