Rihanna May Cancel Tour Dates Due To Poor Ticket Sales

Ri Ri may have a reason to look angry!

Rihanna consistently sits on top of the Billboard charts at the #1 spot, but for some reason the popularity of her music isn’t translating to ticket sales for her tours. According to the NY Post, she may have to cancel many of her U.S. Tour dates, which begin in June, due to poor ticket sales. She reportedly had the same issues in 2010 during her “Last Girl On Earth” Tour and had to cancel dates in Phoenix, Dallas, Atlanta, Denver and Indianapolis.

A source tells the NYP:

“It has been a big disappointment. The ticket sales in big US cities like Boston are so bad, they will barely cover basics like the lighting and other arena costs. Tour managers are begging local radio stations to do giveaways.”

Rihanna is scheduled to perform in Boston on July 24 with Cee-Lo, and while 3,700 tickets have already been sold, the source claims that 15,000 must be sold to at least break even. Allegedly the promoter is expected to lose almost a half million dollars on the Boston date alone.
Another source says:

“She should’ve been doing theaters and smaller venues. She’s not ready to headline an arena tour.”

Dang Ri Ri…guess it’s back to the drawing board!
